People Seek H1N1 Vaccine
On one hand, New York nurses filed a lawsuit to avoid being required by the state’s highest-ranking health officer to take the H1N1 flu vaccine. The nurses were later absolved of the requirement. That said, they are medical professionals. What do they know about the vaccine to be so adamant about not taking it?
Meanwhile, lots of people are getting in line all over the country to get the vaccine. Too bad many of them have to wait for hours before discovering there aren’t enough injectable doses in many areas. That means one must take the nasal variation unless one is too young or infirmed. I know I’d prefer a shot to sniffing something.
Speaking of a shot, it seems that children must take two doses to fully immunized to the H1N1 virus. That’s in addition to the shots needed for the seemingly forgotten, run-of-the-mill flu.
The disease was first called “swine flu” even though pigs aren’t virus carriers. The pork industry was bemoaning a steep loss of business. That makes sense since who’d want to eat infected anything?
I’m not sure how the virus was started or how it is transmitted. I just hear on the news that there are new cases diagnosed. As the new week begins, I wish you (and myself) good luck in avoiding or combating H1N1.
