All for One but Only for Worthy

Published by xzchief at 11:49 pm under Government Edit This

I’ve been seeing a lot of news reports about people complaining they “played by the rules” yet will be forced to subsidize others who got overextended. That’s how I know socialism cannot be successful long-term.

Advocates for the recently passed stimulus bill say propping troubled homeowners by helping them negotiate better rates and giving them tax credits to make mortgage payments benefits everyone. Two foreclosures on Elm Street, so the thought goes, mean the other houses on the block will lose value. Keeping every house in the community viable boosts every home’s value.

Helping those in need is one thing. However, many of the neighbors don’t want to subsidize those who they consider to be lazy or foolish in any way, shape or form. President Obama said his program would differentiate between the two groups and only aid the former. Good luck.

Socialism requires one to care about others as least as much as he cares about himself. Otherwise, socialism cannot function. It’s clear that the down economy is spawning an individualistic streak within many Americans. Even more than the cliched “rugged individualism” for which the U.S. is known.

Beg to differ, hard times tend to bring people together, sure in the corporate run media you see mostly the rhetoric about how when people have hard times it’s because they are lazy and foolish. Ok sure… The fact that less than one percent of the population controls as much as the other 99% couldn’t have anything to do with the state of the economy, it’s stupid lazy people. Yea ok there’s your so called liberal media at work in your mind.
And as for your views on socialism, it doesn’t sound like you have any idea what socialism is, check with the SLP (socialist labor party) http://www.slp.org/ There is nothing about caring about others as much as you care about yourself. It’s about democratic control of industry. The SLP puts it in a nutshell for you. “”Socialism,” as the American Socialist Daniel De Leon defined it, “is that social system under which the necessaries of production are owned, controlled and administered by the people, for the people, and under which, accordingly, the cause of political and economic despotism having been abolished, class rule is at end. That is socialism, nothing short of that.” And we might add, nothing more than that!”
It aint what the Russians did it aint what china did, it hasn’t been tried yet. Socialism is a political philosophy and it has many different authors but much like in religious philosophy many people call themselves Christian who are in no way Christ like, and plenty of people make claims about socialism that have nothing to do with the philosophy.

things are what they are many are sacrificing in one way or another but to hear how people are taking the attitude that because I did the right thing why am I not rewarded. I thought doing the right thing was the reward. Everybody is not fortunate - shit happens and with over 5 million unemployed people, how can you make a statement that people where buying out of their range - they could just be laid off from those high paying jobs.

Furthermore - those “predatory lenders” caused some confusion as well - how many people actually read every word of every contract and understand it fully and generally the lender only highlights the general clauses. There are pages and pages of paperwork to sign when buying a home and unless you have an attorney, the average person is just not going to read every word.

What is wrong out there in the world and the way people are so self absorbed - it’s a petty world and all I can do is shake my head and feel sorry for mankind.
