Obamanable Offers Red Meat to GOP Base
There has been a lot of talk about insuring each party’s base is sufficiently motivated. Not only to vote but to donate money and time toward bringing others to the polls. Obamanable: Why Barack Hussein Obama is Bad for America will provide a spark to conservatives and anger liberals.
Written by Walton Mearsheimer and published by Wordclay, the 93-page book were published nine weeks ago. Obamanable seems to be taken straight from arch-right wing organizations, starting with referencing the Illinois senator by his middle name as often as possible.
The book has six chapters, the last of which is entitled “Conclusion.” The other chapter titles are, in order:
Obama is a Racist
Obama was, and May Still be, a Muslim
Obama is a Liar
Obama’s Record Reveals Atrocious Judgement
Obama’s Associates are the Dregs of American Politics
The book begins “Let’s get right to it: racism. Drop the “R” word right now–at least as far as critics of Barack Hussein Obama are concerned. Why? Good question. I’ll explain. Many Obama supporters claim that any criticism of him is “racist.” That’s ridiculous. There really are bad things about Obama, and it’s not racist to say so. If it’s true, then it’s not racism; it’s just fact, plain and simple.” (italics in original)
You get the book’s premise. Mearsheimer, according to his book’s back-cover biography, “is an American educator, cleric, jurist, historian, philosopher, political scientist, social critic, author and lecturer” with expertise in Israeli-Middle East relations. He is convinced Obama’s campaign is based on Islam. The author asserts Islamic culture is based on lying; therefore, no one should be surprised that Obama lies often.
Obamanable includes a few quotes from Obama, some quotes from others about Obama and some “tasteless Obama jokes.” Early in Chapter Five, Mearsheimer wrote:
“Obama is not against what is bad about America; he’s against what is good about America. What’s worse is that Obama now pretends he “didn’t know” that he chose his causes and associates in “ignorance,” that he wasn’t aware of their hateful messages, ideologies, and goals. This, of course, is yet another Obama lie. He was not only aware of what his associates stand for, he also shares their beliefs.” (italics in original)
A lot of John McCain’s supporters wonder why his campaign doesn’t spend more time talking about Obama’s associations with Rev. Jeremiah Wright and William Ayres. Mearsheimer spends a lot of time breaking down those relationships, although he never mentions McCain.
As I said at the beginning, Obamanable won’t change views. You’ll like it or you’ll hate it based on your pre-existing views.
