Lieberman Stresses Bi-Partisanship
The Republican National Convention resumed business as usual Tuesday, although the featured speaker was anything but usual. Sen. Joe Lieberman, a Democrat-turned-independent spoke highly about his friend and Republican presidential nominee, Sen. John McCain. Lieberman, who was the Democratic vice-presidential nominee in 2000, showed why he was strongly considered to be McCain’s running mate this year. The Connecticut senator talked about how McCain is able to bridge partisan divides and accomplish tasks in Washington.
Lieberman, who remains in the Democrat caucus in large measure because the Democrats have a bare majority when counting socialist Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and him–the two independents in the chamber, said Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was also a maverick who attacked elements within her party when necessary to help the people of her state.
